If you need help quitting, you have come to the right place for support. There are people here at all times of the day and night to help you in your journey. Here is some information that will help you as you travel down the road to a new life - one that does not include cigs. Many of the things you will hear over and over, it may be worded differently, but basically, it's pretty much standard information.

1. Try changing your routines. In the morning, have tea, instead. I cut down from my usual 2 cups to one - and drank it while reading posts & making my pledge here at the Q. 1. Many people who have quit have changed their daily routines. This can be done a number of way. Sit in a differnt chair while you have your morning coffee. Use a different cup if you are the type to use the same cup all the time. Visit the Q and read posts instead of having that morning cig.

2. Cravings are going to happen. You can count on that, so when they do, fight them with everything you have and don't give in no matter what. We have a little rule that before you do light that cig, you have to come to the q and post. Then you have to wait for 3 replies. It is called the 3 post rule. It has kept many people from lighting that cig.

3. One of the things that the quitnet provides is a Q gadget. It tracks how long you you have been quit, how much money you have save and how much life you have saved from not smoking. Another one, The Quitkeeper, is even better.
You can put right on your desktop, but you can do much more with this counter. You can add your buddies, and increase the cost of cigs as they go up for a more accurate amount of money saved.

4. Profiles and posts are a major part of the Q. There is so much to read that can help you in your quit. A list of profiles has been put together by a Q member and I made a webpage out of it. The url for that is: Profiles. Be sure to fill in your own profile as this will be helpful to you and others in your quit. It is also a way for people to get to know you.

5. Drink Water!!!!! Drinking plenty of water is very important in those early days of your quit. This helps wash the nicotine out of your system. So, drink up!!

6. Be sure to check out the Milestones forum. This is a place that people go to celebrate anniversaries. Post your own anny, let us know you are celebrating that special day. Reward yourself with the money that you saved from your quit. Do what ever helps you to feel good about your accomplishment.

7. It is VERY important that you remove all cigarettes, ashtray and anything else related to smoking from your home. It is very helpful when you do not have to look at or smell this stuff. Sometimes knowing it is in the house can make a difference between smoking and not smoking. If your significant other smokes, see if you can convince them to smoke outside. Sometimes that is not possible but perhaps they will be willing to help you by only smoking in one room in the house. Just keep reminding yourself that you do not smoke anymore and hang tough.

8. Quit Buddies are people who have quit around the same time that you have. Try to find as many people as you can and encourage each other often. There are times that one of those buddies will end up smoking, but you will still have many others to fall back on. A few of these buddies will turn out to be life long friends.

9. Good luck with your quit. Remember, always ask for help when you need it. There are many people around who will be more than willing to come to your rescue.
