If Only I Could Quit Daily Meditation

Hi - this is taken from Karen Casey's book If Only I Could Quit. Thought I'd share:

"I don't have to quit forever; I can go back and use tobacco tomorrow if I want to; all I have to do is jut not use it today"

We can do anything for this one day. Nothing will be too much for us. We can even break the day down into each of its 24 hours if the struggle demands it. We can then focus on just one hour at a time. Assuredly, we can survive 60 minutes at a time without a cigarette. How freeing it is to realize we only have to quit smoking for today.

It's helpful to remember all we are ever guaranteed is the present. We can hope for a fruitful future. And most likely it will come to pass; however, each time we give our attention to "when" rather than now, we're missing the richness of the tapestry our experiences are weaving.

Our decision not to smoke today, coupled with both the pain and glory of our choice, will add to the beauty and meaning of our tapestry. Today is a gift. How we live these 24 hours is a gift in return.

I WILL DO WHATEVER I NEED TO DO, TO LIVE WITHOUT A CIGARETTE TODAY. IT'S ALL THE LIFE I'M CERTAIN OF.
